Pleased Mother’s Day
mothers

Just a reminder to you guys and kids – tomorrow is Mother’s Day. As a mother and grandmother I can tell you that it’s not the gift that counts – it’s the fact you remember. So if it’s only your call or visit to your Mom – do it! It means so much and costs you nothing. And, if you’re not in a country celebrating Mother’s Day tomorrow – then pretend. It’s the thought that counts!

Q&A: Who do you think is more dramatic at times “men or women”?

by thesandiegomuseumofartcollection

Question by : Who do you reckon is more dramatic at times “men or women”?
I have seen my honest share of both so why do women always seem to get the rap of being emotional and dramatic?

Best answer:

Answer by Cameron
I would say relatively similar, though depends on the person. Women take it out with sadness. Men take it out with rage. Men get sad too of course, and women mad. But these are the emotions you see more.

Q&A: Why did people start saying “Males and females” instead of “Men and women”?

by State Library and Archives of Florida

Question by paradoxyducks: Why did people start saying “Males and females” instead of “Men and women”?
Personally, I reckon it makes us sound like animals, instead of human beings. Seriously—what do you reckon?
I reckon I started hearing it 3-4 years ago—mainly from younger kids in more urban areas. Now that I live near DC, I hear it all the time—heck, search for it here on Answers, you’ll see a LOT of examples. Generally, it goes “Oh, that’s a fine bunch of females over there.” or “How do females like males to approach them at a bar?”.

It just rubs me the incorrect way! Creepy.

Best answer:

Answer by melissaw77
Human beings are animals arent we. We are not all men and women, some are transgenders, and hermaphrodites, and children, and so forth. So its simpler to say males and females. My opinion.

Editorial on Women’s equality?

by campdarby

Question by : Editorial on Women’s equality?
I am doing an editorial in English and i was thinking about doing it on Women’s Equality, but, i was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or links to websites with some information supporting the thought “women are still not equal to men, even in today’s society.” thank you so much, this is deeply appreciated! And if you dont reckon this is a excellent thought for an editorial, other thoughts are also welcomed. :)

Best answer:

Answer by The Grappler
Not a terrible thought – you would need to show where the imbalances that go both ways now exist, though – just to be honest.

First, show where you reckon women are LESS than equal; then show where they are MORE than equal; then where they ARE equal – then do the same with men.

I look forward to your results!! Fake figures and rubbery statistics should be checked thoroughly, and fact should be carefully sifted from the sea of rhetoric.

MZPN’s Strongest Men and Women

Students: Get a full week of this at an IHS Summer Seminar – lrnlbty.co Are women discriminated against in the workplace? Looking at the data, women on average earn an annual wage that is approximately 75% that of men, which many people believe is the result of discrimination. But, when Prof. Steve Horwitz analyzes the data more closely, he finds that women make certain choices, such as career selection and raising children, which tend to result in lower wages than men. These choices could be the result of personal preferences or sexist cultural expectations for women’s work, though the relative influence of these two factors remains unclear. I found the man of my dreams at the wrong time?

by Eva Rinaldi Celebrity and Live Music Photographer

Question by Roxmysox: I found the man of my dreams at the incorrect time?
I was at work one day and the man of my dreams walked in. Turned out he was not only a client, but a friend of one of my coworkers. After some flirty banter, he left and I begged my coworker to set us up. About a week later, I added him on Facebook. He said he was going to come into my work again and see me, and he did! This guy already had my number from my friend but was so chivalrous and respectful that he drove all the way there to question for it in person. He called me that night and questioned me out on a date, and we went to dinner the next night. IT WAS AMAZING. We hit it off perfectly, but no kiss on the first date for me! ;) , and before the end of the night he said to me, “Next date is yours to plot out, I’m excited!” We went on our second date a few days after that, and it was even more incredible. This time he did kiss me, and I swear it was like electricity for both of us. After the second date, you could tell both of us were infatuated. We both told our family and friends about each other. My parents LOVED him. After the third, INCREDIBLE, date during which he picked me up from work, held my hand, kissed me, etc., we were making out in his car for awhile, and did some more than that but nothing too serious. The morning after, I get a call from him, but I was at work, and he told me to call him back. I called him during my break, he told me to call him when I was off. I knew something was off, but did not at ALL predict what was coming next. He told me that because of his devotion to his sobriety program (AA) and turning his life around, he could not be emotionally available to me and could not see me again. I questioned whether or not he would ever be interested and he said “I can’t make any promises.” I am crushed. He is gorgeous, respectful, our physical attraction is undeniably strong, and we have so many common interests and goals. I don’t want to say or admit I’m in like, but I was certainly getting there. I can’t even look or reckon about another guy. The worst part is, I am also a recovering/borderline alcoholic who has gone to AA in the past, but has has relapse issues recently. This guy not only makes me smile, and is incredible and wonderful in every way I could ever want, but he inspires me to be a better person and to get sober. I don’t drink excessively and he knows this, but I am 21 (although I don’t act it at all) so might be assuming I want to? I don’t know what to do…I obviously will respect his feelings and wishes and keep my distance…but I really feel I have found the man of my dreams. All I really want to know is…

1. Do you reckon he’s telling the truth about why he can’t see/talk to me anymore or is it a sham?
2. He has a stable career, is educated, and has strong family ties.
3. He did say that one of the reasons he felt he had to end things was because what he felt for me after that third date was strong enough that he knew he wouldn’t be able to continue this with me and focus on his program.
4. But he also said that “it’s just not in the cards for us”
5. Because of mutual friends, I know there is no “other woman”

Please help :( I am more than willing to wait for him, but I don’t know how to reach out to him without him feeling that I am overstepping boundaries.
One of his texts to me: “Once upon a time I made terrible decisions and am 100% dedicated to rectifying those mistakes and ensuring I build a life worth living. I am simply not available. Again I am soooo sorry. Please forgive me.”

Best answer:

Answer by Irena
I feel like at this time, you should tell him you respect his choice, but you should also make it clear what your feelings are for him. Talk to him seriously, not on a date, but make sure you guys see eye to eye on everything. But be sure that you don’t sound like you are making him choose either AA or you.

I wish you the best of luck!

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100228212355AAGN05T

Are people who reckon that all women are “insane and can’t behave in society” may be insane themselves?
Cause seriously someone should get themselves marked before they mark others.
And you cannot reckon of someone only as an “assistent” on earth that you are going to push around. That qualifies as using someone.
The 2nd question only generalizes men “here” and not all around the world.
Yeah you still like them for sex only to to cook and clean for you!
Wavirox – I’m worried you don’t have enough intelligience to generalize yet.

Best answer:

Answer by HatrickP
some actions by women just utterly perplex guys because we reckon differently, but the exact same goes for some actions by guys which women find bizarre. Marking either gender ‘insane’ because of this is just a bit ludicrous IMO.

Making my facebook information “interested in: men and women”?

by americanartmuseum

Question by oh well, okay: Making my facebook information “interested in: men and women”?
I want to be officially out (yeah, that would be official :P )

I’m about to go to college in a week and I don’t want to feel like i need to hide it, but here is the thing.

My room mate seems to be a conservative homophobe and I don’t know how to handle it. I don’t want to feel like I am disappointing him but at the same time I don’t see why I should care enough.

What should I do? Should I just change my information, or should I talk to him about it first?

Q&A: Were modern women “bred to work” instead of have families?

by eszter

Question by Jim: Were modern women “bred to work” instead of have families?
This witer thinks so:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/guest_contributors/article7100770.ece

How about you?

Excellent quote:

“One in five females of my generation will never have children; and the Office for National Statistics reports that the more successful you are professionally, the less likely you are to breed. When I look at the women I know who at 40 are single and childless and don’t want to be, my heart aches for them. It is never the ones you’d expect. Many of my singleton friends are at the particularly attractive end of the spectrum; if you’d met them at 20, at university, and been told that at 40 they’d be — unwillingly — alone, you never would have believed it.

What has gone incorrect? Last week Joanna Trollope, the novelist, blamed modern women’s “absurd” expectations for their lack of husbands. She said women are looking for a man who “has to earn £100,000 a year, has to be able to cut down a tree, play the Spanish guitar, make like all night and cook me a cheese soufflé”.

I don’t reckon my single friends are on their own because they are too picky. I reckon it is because as a generation we were bred not to prioritise finding a husband and having a family. Unlike generations of females before us, we were bred to work. I was born in 1970, in the middle of women’s lib. My mother and her peers were conscious-raising and feminist.

They fought hard to be able to work, to be taken seriously as equals to men. Having been raised in the domestic confines of the 1950s, they battled to free themselves and others from the expectation that a woman’s lot was in the home.

One feminist mother of a friend of mine never let her daughter clear the table or wash up — her brothers were expected to do it — because she didn’t want her daughter to reckon domestic chores were women’s work. My mother bought my brothers dolls (which they used as guns) and me an early computer. At my girls’ school we were told to forget cooking and were given talks on how we would become the judges, politicians and scientists of the future.

No one, not my family or my teachers, ever said, “Oh yes, and by the way you might want to be a wife and mother too.” They were so determined we would follow a new, egalitarian, modern path that the historic ambitions of generations of women — to get married and raise a family — were intentionally airbrushed from their vision of our future.”

Edita Vilkeviciute | Lachlan Bailey | Vogue Paris April 2012 | Chic Boxing

Well call me speechless! For the second day in a row, I have something excellent to say about Emmanuelle Alt’s Vogue Paris. Yesterday’s Anna Selezneva by David Bellemere brought a ferocious, sensual smile to my face. This morning Edita Vikeviciute is in fighting form, perhaps ready to march in Harrisburg, or New York or even Nevada on April 28th. It looks to me like the gloriously sensual Edita is in fighting form, not as the chic woman supporting her man boxer, but as the woman in the ring. Details include American flag, cross front and center.  Lachlan Bailey captures more than a designer watches fashion statement, styled by Geraldine Saglio for the April issue. Hooray!
