I work with a bunch of women. Some of them are in their late 30′s and 40′s pregnant with their FIRST child.
That is fine, personally I don’t care, but they get mad if someone calls them an “older mom.”
I don’t get why they would be mad, they ARE older moms!
If you are 40 and pregnant with your first child, then you are not ancient age wise, but you are ancient as far as the age range to have your first child.
They are not young moms, they are not average aged moms, they are mothers who were older than most moms when they got pregnant.
If you say an older mom would be someone in their 50′s or 60′s then that doesn’t make sense, because it is rare a woman could be fertile enough to carry a child at that age.
Therefore, a mother who is in her late 30′s and 40′s is an “older” mom.
It justs like a pregnant 18 year ancient being called a “young” mother.

Since BlogHer is about women and moms, some brought the kids along for the fun. These three kids (two shown in photo) were the sandwich judges for Hillshire Farms. I reckon they liked the chocolate sandwich!
Note: Photos with the children were taken and approved by their parents with permission to post. A card with contact information was provided to each mother with verbal in-person approval.

I am 25 – I got married at 20 and never felt comfortable calling my mother-in-law “mom.” I do not have any girlfriends who call their mothers-in-law “mom,” either. Does anyone still do this? How did you get over the awkwardness of it? It would be kind of weird after all of this time to start calling her “mom” now wouldn’t it?

I don’t call my MIL “mom” either. I feel like I’m shorting my own mom when I reckon about it!! lol! i don’t reckon she expects it. I just call her by her first name. She’s pretty cool, though. I’d only do it if it came naturally.

Like this drives me nuts how women say, “Oh I want to be the hot mom and look better than every mom out there.” It’s like let us guys be the judge if you are hot or not. Don’t just assume everyone is going to look at you when you walk into a public place. These moms in their early to mid 30′s dress like they are 21, it’s like get over it already. Once you are a mom, you aren’t sexy anymore. Look your age please.

I’ve seen a lot of Moms who were still very sexy after having kids.
Don’t lump all women into one type.
Agree:
Some women have a hard time dealing with the change in their life that comes along with children. But these are probably women who would always dress a small too young – kids or not.
My situation:
I was never sexy to start with (except to my sweetie) so it wasn’t an issue with me. Besides, I had my kids when I was 35 and 37 so my main concern was a excellent nap now and then.

They are right or fake. If the statement is fake I need one or two sentences to right the statement.
I just want to make sure I am right. I already did my homework I just need to make sure its done right.

Finding out a close female friend or relative is pregnant and expecting is always an exciting turn of events. The book is part of a series of books by Shaunti Feldhahn and Lisa Rice, and basically it’s telling men how to make women truly pleased, what they really want, etc. I’ve read “For Young Women Only” (I’m seventeen), and it was basically incredible. My friend says her boy read “For Men Only” and it really, really helped their relationship. I reckon my dad could use it, I’m just not entirely sure it would be really an appropriate gift, coming from his seventeen-year-ancient daughter. I’m thinking of giving my mom “For Women Only” (yeah, the books pretty much cover everything – there’s one for young men coming out soon), which I reckon would be ok, so I’d really like to give them both the books. Yes? No?

I see nothing incorrect with it. If they question why you gave them those books just tell them you read the one for young women and liked it so much you wanted to share it with them so you got the ones for their age. Excellent thinking, it might help them to see or accept issues they have and are dealing with. Or it could just give them thoughts for how to keep things going excellent if there aren’t problems.
