Women are always overprotected, even when they reach their early twenties. To me, women should be allowed to do whatever they want to like men and have freedom when they are adults.
Parents call their daughter “our small girl” but for boys, fathers go like “he’s a man!”
EX: I’m 18 and my family members always treat me like a kid. Pinching my cheeks, asking me to sit on their laps, and bedtimes. Plus, they are very protective of how I dress. They still have problems with me wearing bikinis to the beach. My mom, father, and uncle still call me a “baby girl,” but my younger brother who is 17 is a “grown man.”

I am a 60 year ancient married male and I reckon I’m in like with my 33 year ancient divorced female co-worker. She also has a 5 year ancient son. We are on a very excellent friends basis since I help her out with her duties as being in charge of our department. I do hint around a bit on how I feel, but feel too embarassed to come right out and tell her. I have a hard time reading her thoughts, but basically reckon she has no interest except for being a close and dear friend. Our age difference is too overwhelming to conquer I reckon. I did tell her recently that my only regret was I was born 25 to 30 years too soon, her answer was “25 or 2 what’s the difference?” I don’t know what she meant by that. I guess it could be taken in many ways. I don’t reckon I am infatuated with her, but truly reckon, even at my age, that I have fallen in like again. I really need some advice on what to do, since she is all I reckon about. I also do not want to ruin the excellent friendship we do have.

I cannot believe someone I have been going out with, told me he only likes foreign women. This means he sees me as the stereotypical foreign woman. I did not take that very well at all. I look at him differently for that comment and even chose not take him to my company’s Christmas party…and pretty much not see any potential in him. There is nothing incorrect with the stereotypical foreign wife, but I’m certainly not one of them, and I don’t see any compatibility with someone who wants that.
What’s the definition? And have you ever been called one? LOL
I’m familiar with American/his culture and he knows that very well. Also, it did not come up in the context of physical appearance.

“Foreign woman”? what a rube that guy is (it doesn’t matter that you didn’t want to make this ‘about him’ because anyone using a phrase takes ownership of it, especially when talking you to)… His persona becomes attached to the comment — like Michael Richards with the n-word, especially if he was talking to say, Chris Rock at the time. Here ya go:
Naive — to American pop culture & references. You wouldn’t realize this, until a group starts talking about the “Brady Bunch” episodes & childhood this/that they saw/”loved”.. etc. (talk, of which, I personally can’t stand).
Better educated — he’s trying to compliment you, vs. a stereotype both ways… as if everyone’s a PhD? in (country). Which really says he’s less educated, more myopic and certainly less experienced than he thinks himself.
More compliant — common to this sort of a guy, would be that he thinks American women are more loud, more demanding, more knowleable about divorce, too and sharing earned income, etc. and these guys may lean toward again, their stereotype of Asian women for fashion, for putting their men ahead of themselves, for being subservient… etc.
Simple — “they start early” is a common myth in American men… and that a French girl or German, etc. will go at the drop of a hat, or because we’re American, etc. and (add your stereotype again) drive fancy cars, live in an exciting city, well that applies in my case, and/or will get more cozy/be impressed because of our simple access to jeans, ‘real’ rap music, etc. etc. Amusing, but I caught a guy from KENTUCKY saying how he was “keeping it real in the streets” (until I pointed out to his circle, that he wasn’t even from Cincinnati as he was claiming.. but the suburban town across the river, in Kentucky.. laughingly, because I’d travelled through there, year ago). Similarly, men from NJ always say they’re “from NY” — and affect the language/image for what they reckon will get some points, in their foreign audience (which doesn’t KNOW BETTER).
Socialist — A bit on the shared wealth-side of the ledger.
Different — Because he’s got small interaction with anyone outside of where he comes from… he looks at anyone from any new place like an E.T. (in bra, heels and a skirt). He doesn’t KNOW that people are people, because he’s really quite prejudiced and bigoted… only, he’s playing a more understanding game, by rapping to you. He’d be far different, int he company of men. (“Yo, I was with this Filipino girl the other night…they are wild.”) You can place other attributes in here, from “exotic” to “will fool around with older guys” without being as easily turned off.

Essentially, his entire relationship with you… because of what you regard and KNOW yourself to be… is based on a rude lie of his stereotyping. He just may be talking to you, yes’ing you and verbally sparing, all the while thinking you are everything he’s stereotyped foreign women to be… Now, what about ME? Well, because I’m native to a place (Brooklyn NY) where I’ve met and seen and interacted with 10,000s of latin & persian/arabic women alone much less black or european, etc… to me you are a women. Period. Not a “foreign woman”. Why I’m stating this is — because he sees you FIRST as a FOREIGN WOMAN no matter what you do, say. (Hey, I’m not here to be well loved… I just say things for what they are.. or, I don’t say anything at all.)
