Abortion as “art” response?

Question by ladyscientist: Abortion as “art” response?
Did anyone else read on yahoo news that the whole abortion as art at yale college was a hoax? Yesterday some woman questioned a question and wanted women to agree with her how incorrect it was. I answered with “Do you have another source? I don’t believe everything I read on perez hilton’s website”. I got a thumbs down for that. Sure enough, today the whole thing was proven as a hoax. Did anyone else besides me realize it was all a lie?

People don’t realize that you can’t believe everything you read. Just because it’s in a pamphlet or on perez hilton’s website doesn’t mean it’s right.
No go check yahoo news. I tried to include the link but yahoo wouldn’t let me. It was all a gimmick to elicit a response from the public….and most morons fell for it.
Vegan, I saw your response, which was written AFTER mine. I was the first to question the authenticity. If you came up with the same conclusion on your own, excellent for you.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080418/ap_on_re_us/art_hoax;_ylt=AqfSu_HMaDRzQn.Ois9xM_XtiBIF

Many of you still reckon it’s right……probably the same people who believe every “abortion” video they see on youtube and other places. What happened to people thinking for themselves and using critical thinking? Common sense?
Sometimes people’s ignorance makes me mad, and other times it’s just sad. No wonder the public is so easily misled……they don’t have the mental capacity to research and reckon for themselves. And they are reproducing…..dear god whatever happened to natural selection

Over the centuries until quite recently fantastic women artists had been ignored, forgotten, or somehow denied; they had been largely left out of museums and histories of art. Along came Wilhelmina Cole Holliday, who boldly chose to rectify this oversight by founding a museum in 1987 in a landmark building three blocks from the White House. A critic for the “Washington Post” wrote: ‘Wilhelmina Cole Holladay, the museum’s founding president, has accomplished something radical. No player in the art

Vintage “Celebrity Art” Black and White Ad/Photo?

by juliejordanscott

Question by Whitty: Vintage “Celebrity Art” Black and White Ad/Photo?
I have a large vintage black and white ad or photo of a woman with a silly look on her face next to an elks head with the caption “Oh How I Like an Elk”. It is signed Celebrity Art Boston Copyright 1947. I don’t recognize the woman in the picture. Does anyone know anything about Celebrity Art or where I can find other pictures by them?

Best answer:

Answer by meshcount
I don’t reckon she’s a celebrity. I reckon “Celebrity Art” is just the name of the Boston company that designed the poster for the nonprofit volunteer organization The Elks ( http://www.elks.org/ ). The Elks often used pictures of gorgeous women in their posters to try to allure men to join their group. The Salisbury Elks has a collection of these posters, including yours (yours is 14 rows down, 2nd column): http://www.salisburyelks.org/Elks%20history/Misc/misc.htm

Contact the Elks, there’s an email link for someone that maintains historical artifacts at the top of the page:

What is the name of the Picasso painting that appears in “The World of Art” from the movie Pleasantville?

by A river runs through

Question by drdf759: What is the name of the Picasso painting that appears in “The World of Art” from the movie Pleasantville?
In the movie “The World of Art” by Edward Bissell is a completely made up book, but the works of art are real. There is one picture where the women is resting (according to Mr. Johnson), but crying (according to Betty Parker). In the caption it claims the work of art is “Women stretched out with arms under neck on a red bed” by Pablo Picasso, but whenever i search for this work, it appears it doesn’t exist. What is this piece of art, and where might I find it?

Best answer:

Answer by Lenore
well i dont remember the movie that detailed enough, but i found a script of the movie and it says its suppose to be picasso’s crying women, with rendered colors. that’s suppose to be what they’re looking at when she says she’s crying.

i looked it up and found there’s a whole crying woman series. excellent luck.

Women in Art: Flowers in a Glass Vase by Rachel Ruysch

View more Women in Art videos on our playlist! ow.ly This episode focus’s on the contributions of women artist’s as represented trough varied eras and genres in the DIA’s collection. Can You Catch the Scent of Roses? It nearly seems possible with poesies, tulips, and roses painted with such precision by artist Rachel Ruysch. Her father Frederick was a distinguished scientist, professor of anatomy, and head of botanical gardens at the university in Amsterdam. Ruysch was able to study her subject in fantastic detail because of her father’s extensive work with plants. But, this painting doesn’t simply represent highly realistic flowers; it reminds viewers that life, like flowers besieged by insects, is fleeting. DID YOU KNOW? Ruysch’s colorful bouquet could not have existed in actuality. The flowers seen here bloom at different points in the year, making it impossible for them to be alive at the same time. Your Perfect Wedding Makeup

by MC-Leprosy

Your Perfect Wedding Makeup

Have you ever met a man who doesn’t have any ego? Or may be a woman who doesn’t carry strawberry flavored lip balm in her purse. Of course, not imagining a woman without a makeup kit would be the scariest thing after the Second World War. Even if when she is going for a walk with her dog in a nearby garden, you would see her dressed up with a small eye makeup (only if you are a professional makeup artist). Women likes make up; and if it’s their wedding she would wish to buy all the beauty products for her wedding.

How many times do you reckon a woman sees herself when it comes to wedding? Believe me, nobody can answer this question. Question any woman on the most favorite thing in the world (apart from diamonds and shopping), she would answer “mirror” as this is something which gives them the chance to appreciate her beauty. A women wish to look her best on the wedding day as this is the day which she would memorize for the entire life.

Sometimes, even after spending a lot of time in front of the mirror you end up making your make up blotchy and patchy. It’s not the products which makes you gorgeous but the ways you work on your face. So, you are getting tensed as your wedding day is approaching soon, follow these small tips to look your best with the right wedding makeup.

As you are a woman, you must be aware of the basics of makeup. With the knowledge on basics of makeup, you must also know the ways which can ruin your wedding look. It’s advisable to not follow the trend blindly but rather opt for something which would look excellent on you. Have you noticed the smoky eyes of the model that walks in the ramp? Of course, even if you like the smoky eyes make up, it would not look excellent on your wedding as you are a bride and not a model.

When you start doing make up, base is one of the most vital things which you should focus. You would be surprise to know that most of the makeup blunders happen when the base is not appropriately done. Choose a foundation which would complement your skin tone. With the foundation, a concealer and bronzer is a must as they would cover your pimples, acnes, dark spots etc.

Have you attended any Brisbane wedding? You would get surprised with the perfect look of the bride, the makeup artists of Brisbane are very professionals when it comes to their service. Buy a excellent foundation with moisture which would blend with your skin easily.

Some people have a habit of highlighting their face as they feel that face is the most vital part of your body. Undoubtedly, you should focus on the face make up more but other parts should also be focused which would complete your wedding make up. Best wishes for your wedding!
